Silver for Swings at the marathon

Flanders Grand Prix

Two Belgian cadettes girls participated at the marathon for junior ladies in San Benedetto del Tronto last Sunday. Vicky Jacobs (RRZ) ended up 13th. Sandrine Tas finished as 15th in this higher category. Nice performance again from these  youngsters.. It was Katharina Rumpus (Ger) who sprinted for gold in front of Anna Giroldi and Valentina Fede, both from Italy.

 

In the junior boys category the bunch stayed together so it became a huge sprint with Matteo Melis (1h06'24") winning the gold, Stefan Due Schmidt Den) for silver and Luca Perticaro (Ita) for bronze. Siemen Tas (17th) and Mathias Vosté (18th) were the Belgian participants in this category.

 

Sabine Berg was the 'girl to beat' and she confimed her status again. She beated (1h09'49") a bunch of Italian girls for the gold. Laura Lardani took silver, Elma de Vries (Neth) the bronze). Hanne Wouters (Bel) ended as 41th.

 

The one who could beat Bart Swings in this 42K race would become the new European champion for 2010. Ingmar Berga (1h00'36") from Holland left the bunch and kept 6" of advantage at the end. Bart Swings won the sprint for silver, Julien Sourisseau won the bronze. An average speed of almost 42k/h... Other Belgian participants : Ferre Spruyt (23th), Maarten Swings (24th) and Kwinten Tas (32th)

 

Congrats to all Belgian participants for their achievements in this tournament. We hope to see lot's of them in Zandvoorde next Friday.
